On May 19, 2026, there will be a special election to determine who will fill the temporary vacancy for SD7, lasting from May 2026 to January 2027.

Adrienne is competing in this special election.

There will also be Democratic and Republican primaries to determine the party nominees who will compete in November for the full term, lasting from January 2027 to January 2029. Adrienne is not running for the Democratic primary nomination.

About Adrienne

Adrienne has spent her career at the intersection of finance and community leadership. As SVP at SouthState Bank, she serves as a trusted partner to nonprofits across metro Atlanta — helping organizations access loans, treasury solutions, and a variety of banking tools they need to sustain their work. Prior to that, she held finance roles at Citizens Trust Bank, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, The Coca-Cola Company, and Ernst & Young.

A graduate of the University of Virginia, Adrienne has a deep history of community service. She is the Board Chair of Hands on Atlanta, a board member of Atlanta Way 2.0, a committee member on three mission-based lending organizations, and a leader in Democratic campaigns and causes in Georgia. She has also held leadership positions in multiple organizations focused on community development and civic engagement, in addition to being a certified running coach and mentoring hundreds of runners through the Road Runners Club of America, Atlanta Track Club, and Black Girls Run.

Adrienne lives in Duluth with her husband, Gwinnett County Commissioner Kirkland Carden, and their son, Bleu.
